Mankind\u2019s greatest contribution to the wild is plastic. We built a material that doesn\u2019t degrade, so it will last forever, like a stone. Most of the time it\u2019s coated so no roots can really enter it. But nature starts to grow around it, and at some point they become integrated.
\nSymmetry is one thing, perfect repetition is another habit of mankind\u2019s. Most industrial production hates diversity and irregularity. Plastic parts repeat their very nature: conformed, bright, coloured. But at least they\u2019ve been spread and abandoned so much that they also create their own world. They\u2019re like a kind of strange species, a little like butterflies.
\nTo me they impact very strongly on the colour scheme of nature, bringing some yellows, blues, extreme reds, and coats of gold.
\nThe horse habitat was very low key.
\nOld fences, multitudes of dying ropes, buckets; you could see the distant love of a rider, who may have left to study somewhere else. But the horses looked in good shape, and I guess I was the only one there trying to understand.

The artist and designer is one half of the renowned Bouroullec brothers, who set-up their Paris design studio in 1999.

\nErwan and Ronan Bouroullec have co-created iconic designs for the likes of Vitra, Hay, Flos, Cassina, Ligne Roset, Magis, Mutina, Established & Sons and Kvadrat.
\nTheir designs are held in some of the world\u2019s most coveted permanent collections, exhibitions have been devoted to their work, and monographs have been published, cataloguing some of their outstanding creations.
\nIn recent years, the duo have expanded their repertoire into the public realm, bringing modern relevance to historic sites such as Bourse de Commerce – Pinault Collection (Paris, 2021) and the Champs-Elys\u00e9es fountains (Paris, 2019).
\nErwan and Ronan Bouroullec\u2019s collaboration is an ongoing dialogue, nourished by distinct personalities, a shared notion of diligence and, increasingly, their individual artistic experimentation.<\/p>\n
